NTPC Mining Limited (NML) is a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Ltd. It was incorporated on August 29, 2019, specifically to handle NTPC’s mining business. NML is engaged in the business of coal mining, including the acquisition of coal mines, as well as the sale and disposal of coal in India and elsewhere.
NTPC has taken this step to streamline its mining operations and enhance efficiency.
By creating NML, NTPC aims to focus on its core energy generation activities while ensuring effective management of its mining assets.
NTPC has started coal production from its five coal blocks, i.e Pakri Barwadih , Chatti Bariatu and Kerandari-A in Jharkhand, Dulanga in Odisha and Talaipalli in Chhattisgarh. NTPC has declared commercial operation of its two mines i.e. Pakri Barwadih and Dulanga Coal Block. During FY 2021-22, NTPC achieved 14.02 MMT coal production from its three operating mines. Mining operations in the Chatti Bariatu mine started in April 22. Other mines are in development stage and are expected to start coal production in the near future.
