NTPC Limited is a major Indian public sector company engaged in the generation of electricity and allied activities. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a significant aspect of NTPC’s operations. 

NTPC and its wholly owned subsidiary NTPC Mining Limited (NML)’s CSR initiatives with a vision “Atmanirbharta in Mining ,Fueling NTPC” focus on sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and community welfare, aligning with national and global development goals with to directly or indirectly take up programmes that benefit the communities in & around its projects and project affected people over a period, in enhancing the quality of life & economic wellbeing of the local populace. 

Key Areas of CSR Initiatives

Education
NTPC supports education by establishing schools, providing scholarships, and improving infrastructure in rural and underprivileged areas.
Healthcare
They run health camps, provide medical facilities, and focus on sanitation and drinking water projects in communities around their plants.
Environment
NTPC invests in environmental sustainability, including afforestation, water conservation, and renewable energy projects.
Rural Development
The company engages in building roads, community centres, and providing basic amenities to improve the quality of life in rural areas.
Skill Development
NTPC provides vocational training and skill development programs to empower local youth and improve employability.
Women Empowerment
The corporation runs various initiatives focused on empowering women through education, self-help groups, and entrepreneurship programs.

NTPC’s CSR efforts have significantly impacted the communities in and around their operational areas, contributing to social, economic, and environmental development. Skill development plays an important part in self-reliance and empowerment. NTPC Mining Limited (NML), Ranchi has taken up the initiative under its CSR to sponsor 80 project affected youths including 25 girls from all coal mining projects & its vicinity located in the States of Jharkhand, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh for skill development in association with Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Ranchi. Currently two batches of participants are undergoing skill development training from March 20,2024.
